Fukuro, the enigmatic visual kei rock band from Japan, is bringing their unique blend of dark elegance and powerful sound to Bratislava tomorrow night. Known for their theatrical performances, haunting melodies, and striking visuals, Fukuro promises an unforgettable live show filled with emotion and energy. What did they share with us in the interview?
What inspires you the most? Where do you look for inspiration when creating music and writing lyrics? Does it come from music, life experiences, video games, or even a favorite TV series?
Yoshiatsu: Of course. I’m inspired by everything. The things I see and feel in my everyday life, my personal experiences, what’s happening in the world right now, and the cultures of different countries I come across through social media. All of these things inspire me. But I’m just an ordinary person, so what I see and feel is just the same as what everyone else does.
Have you ever been to Europe? If so, where have you been, and which places are you most looking forward to visiting?
Yoshiatsu: I visited once in the past with DADAROMA. It was an amazing memory. I’m not very familiar with geography, so I’m really looking forward to seeing everything with my own eyes on the European tour. Of course, the people as well.

What experiences have you brought from your previous or current band projects into Fukuro?
Yoshiatsu: Well, I have just announced my involvement in another band, and it made me realize that through experiencing different instruments and completely different forms of musical expression, there’s truly so much I can bring back to Fukuro. It also made me appreciate what makes Fukuro special and helped me rediscover the strengths we should continue to build on moving forward.
How can Czech and Slovak fans support you outside of attending your concerts? On which platforms are you most active, and where can your music be purchased digitally?
Yutara: Currently, Fukuro’s music is available on various platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, so please try searching for “Fukuro” on the app you usually use to listen to music! Just listening to our songs is one way to support us. If you’re interested in merchandise or CDs, we also have an official online store. For more details, please check our website!
How do you compose your music? Who usually comes up with the initial idea, who drives the process, and who brings it all together in the final version?
Daisuke: I’m the one who writes the songs. Sometimes I get ideas from the other members, and other times I create based on what kind of world I personally want Fukuro to express at that moment. We take the demos I create and then arrange them together in the studio while discussing everything as a group.
Concert culture in Japan is very specific. Have you noticed any cultural differences when performing abroad?
Lotto: In Japan, even in daily life, there’s a tendency to conform to those around you, and an unspoken rule that individuals shouldn’t stand out. Even the audience’s “furi” (choreographed movements) often involves everyone doing the same thing. Overseas, like in America, I felt that people live more freely as individuals, with no strict rules when it comes to fashion or how to enjoy music. By going beyond borders and experiencing the unique characteristics, trends, and cultures of each country firsthand, we want to create music and live shows that only we can deliver, together with all of you.
What is your relationship with international fans, especially those outside of Asia? Have you ever been surprised by where your support comes from?
Yoshiatsu: Many times. I’ve been told countless times from all over the world that my songs have saved someone. Each time, it makes me realize just how meaningful this work truly is. I’m not just a Japanese artist. I’m an artist of the Earth. Thank you always. I love you.
Is there a dream festival, stage, or country where you would love to perform someday?
Daisuke: My biggest goal right now is to hold a solo live show at Tokyo Kinema Club. As for a country I want to visit, it’s Mongolia, but not for a live show. I just want to see the stars.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time besides music? Do you have any hobbies that recharge or inspire you?
Yutara: I often go to the theater to watch movies or stay home and play games. I value spending time immersed in something on my own rather than meeting up with others. Experiencing various kinds of works helps nurture my sensitivity and becomes a source of inspiration.
What message would you like to send to your Czech and Slovak fans who follow and support you?
Lotto: I know that both the Czech Republic and Slovakia have beautiful cityscapes. This time, we’re going to Slovakia on tour, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the city with my own eyes. Also, please tell me about some good local alcohol!
