Some acting duos are remembered for their legendary scenes, whilst others for the incredible chemistry between them. Thai actors Sky and Nani could easily fit into both categories and are one of the most popular duos from the GMMTV agency amongst fans. In an exclusive interview they gave us during their fan meeting in Rome, they revealed more about their collaboration and their future projects.
During the last weekend of August, from 29 to 30 August, a number of fan meetings with actors from Thailand took place in Rome. Three pairs of actors from GMMTV – an agency that dominates the production of Boys’ Love stories in Thailand – travelled to the Eternal City in Italy. Among them were Sky Wongravee Nateetorn and Nani Hirunkit Changkham, who have won the hearts of fans not only at home but also internationally.
Sky and Nani first came to prominence as a pair thanks to their drama High School Frenemy, which was released in 2024. The legendary fight scenes, profound reflections on the harsh realities of the real world, and heart-warming scenes of friendship have resonated with many fans. In addition to their debut series, they have also released another drama this year, titled Wu.
None of this would have been possible without the dedication of the Jus in Bello team, who continue to create opportunities for audiences and artists to come together, connect and turn their shared passion into real-life experiences. We also had the opportunity to ask the acting duo a few questions. In their answers, they revealed more about their journey together, as well as other projects we can look forward to.
When you first started working together, did you immediately feel that you had a natural connection, or was it something that grew stronger over time?
Nani: Honestly, when I first found out that I would be working with Sky, I never really thought about our chemistry or anything like that. I was simply focused on doing the best job I could and putting my heart into the work. I always believe that whatever comes after that is something that happens naturally.
High School Frenemy seemed like one of the most emotionally and physically demanding projects you’ve worked on. Looking back now, what part of the experience has stayed with you the most?
Nani: This has been a project where I’ve learned and grown so much, and it’s definitely something I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. We’ve been through a lot together, but in the end, no matter what happened, the outcome has been a very happy one for me.
Your newest series, Wu, takes you into a world of fate, supernatural powers, and destiny. What has been the biggest challenge and the most exciting part of telling this story together?
Nani: I’m really excited about exploring new beliefs and getting to portray something I never imagined I would get the chance to be in this life – a monkey demon. I really love the character and I’m very excited about it, so it feels like a whole new and exciting experience for me.
Fans already know they’ll see you together again in Arrest and Action. Without revealing too much, what can they look forward to most in this new project?
Sky: We’ll be coming back with a new series. Arrest and Action, and I’d like fans to look forward to seeing us take on some new roles. This times, we’re both playing police officers who are partners and have to go on missions together. I think it’ll be a bit more relaxed and have more comedy this time. I’m not sure yet if there’ll be any drama – we’ll have to wait until we get the scripts. We should get them around September, and I’ll share more with everyone then.
You are also part of the upcoming HiGH & LOW: Born to Be High, one of GMMTV’s biggest productions. What does it mean to be part of such an iconic project?
Sky: I’m really excited because it’s a big project for GMMTV. It’s the kind of project that requires a lot of teamwork because there are so many characters and actors involved – more than ten people. So I think we all have to come together, bring our energy, and find a common goal for what we want this series to be and how we want it to turn out.
Fans often joke that one of you is the “sleepy one” and the other is the “shy one”. Do you agree, or do they completely misunderstand you? How would you describe your dynamic as duo?
Sky: I think that’s probably the image people see when they watch us on screen. But in real life, we might actually be quite different. We’re not really the sleepy or shy types. When we’re meeting fans or behind the scenes, we’re not necessarily nervous or anything. We’re both actually pretty playful and like to tease each other. We’re both introverts, though.
If the Sky and Nani who first started working together could meet SkyNani of today, what do you think they would say to each other?
Sky: I don’t think we’d say much. We’d probably just sit in opposite corners of the room and avoid making eye contact.
This august, you met your European fans at your fan meet in Rome. How excited are you about the event, and what are you looking forward to the most during your time in Rome?
Sky: I’m really excited! As I mentioned, we flew for more than 10 hours from Thailand to Rome to meet our European fans, so we’re really looking forward to it. It’s our first time in Rome and also our first fan meeting in Europe together. We’ve put a lot of effort into preparing the performance and different games for the fans here, and I really hope everyone enjoys them!
